“It finally came down” Tesla Cybertruck terms and conditions were eventually deleted
Tesla withdrew the Cybertruck-specific terms and conditions that were included in the Cybertruck order terms and conditions. Tesla had previously planned to implement a policy of banning used sales within one year of purchasing a vehicle through its Cybertruck-specific terms and conditions.
The main content of the Tesla Cybertruck order terms and conditions is that the consumer agrees not to sell or attempt to sell the vehicle within one year after delivery. If you violate this and sell or transfer a vehicle, you can claim damages in the amount of $50,000 or the amount received for selling the vehicle, whichever is greater.
Here, Tesla included a clause stating that it may no longer sell any of its vehicles in the future to customers who violate this. In fact, this is a measure to fundamentally exclude consumers who sell used cars within one year of purchasing the car.
Of course, if the vehicle needs to be sold within a year, Tesla is notified and measures are taken to enable the sale if there is a sufficient reason. However, even in this case, it was disposed of to Tesla at a cost that reflected the depreciation, and if Tesla refused to purchase it, it could be sold elsewhere.
Most consumers had negative opinions regarding these measures. There were many opinions questioning whether it makes sense to not be able to freely dispose of personal property, and negative opinions saying it seemed like a line had been crossed.
Perhaps conscious of this, it was confirmed that the order terms and conditions were deleted from the order form on the afternoon of the 14th (local time). Tesla's position on why it modified the order terms and conditions has not yet been revealed.
Meanwhile, the Tesla Cybertruck is scheduled to be officially shipped at the end of this month, and the price is expected to increase significantly from the originally announced price of $39,900 due to rising material costs.
